IMINJUNJU is Christa van der Meer’s graduation project (2013). While working on IMINJUNJU, Christa van der Meer’s main focus was to define the relationship between her 2D and fashion design practice. She used the outcome of her research to create a fashion collection, in which she approached the silhouettes as if they were portraits, and used materials to frame the faces.
For Christa van der Meer drawing is essential for designing. It is an instrument to create a new perspective both visually and emotionally. Besides presenting her graduation collection, Christa van der Meer will use BACK STAGE ON STAGE to create a new series of works: BECAUSE HE MADE HER SMILE. This project stems from
a fascination for the proportions of the face and the emotions that influence its expression. Visitors will see her shrinking and reassembling specific parts of a portrait on silk.
