In the project FALSAFA designer Nikkie Wester, who graduated from the Textile & Fashion department in 2012, begins her research into the con-
struction and foundation of Islamic patterns. Hereto she collaborates with Louise Rietvink, student Interior Architecture and Furniture Design at the Royal Academy of Art. Departure point is the Islamic philosophy of Falsafa, which states that one can achieve ultimate intellect and beauty through geometry and the mathematical constructions of patterns.
During BACK STAGE ON STAGE Nikkie Wester and Louise Rietvink continue their analysis and investigation into the essence of patterns, geometry and symmetry. In a production line of a growing series of imprints the visitor gains insight into the construction of seemingly complex patterns.
