IMINJUNJU is Christa van der Meer’s graduation project (2013). While working on IMINJUNJU, Christa van der Meer’s main focus was to define the relationship between her 2D and fashion design work. She used the outcome of this research to create a fashion collection, approaching the silhouettes as if they were portraits, while the materials were used to frame the faces.
The starting point for this project is that drawing is essential for designing. It is an instrument to create a new perspective both visually and emotionally. Besides presenting her graduation collection, Christa van der Meer will use BACK STAGE ON STAGE to create a new series of works: BECAUSE HE MADE HER SMILE. This project stems from a fascination for the proportions within a face and the emotions that influence its expression. Visitors will see her shrinking and reassembling specific parts of a portrait on silk.
