In POINTES by Ymke Vertelman (student Interior Architecture and Furniture Design) two dancers enter into a dialogue. During BACK STAGE ON STAGE instead of words they use the sounds of their pointe shoes to communicate.
In this performance a living
xylophone comes into being that unites music and dance. In classical ballet pointe shoes are representative of the dancer’s weightlessness. In reality it is all but weightless. POINTES deals with the inescapability of gravity.
